Setup your Air Shifter
The key to a good air shifter setup is a proper connection between the air cylinder and the gear shifter. A solid mount that stands off the frame is the starting point for this connection. The mount should stand off of the frame far enough so that the rod clevis easily slots over the shift lever. Locating the mount to create a square, 90° angle, connection to the shift lever ensures good action. A properly mounted cylinder will stroke freely in both directions and not cause the gear lever to drag or bind.
Setup your Engine Kill and Delay Times
A properly setup air shifter will:
- Upshift at the press of a button
- Quickly and smoothly change gears without upsetting the chassis
- Work without use of the clutch
- Work without the need to back off the throttle
Achieving good results requires some software tuning. If your setup includes the Nextup Contoller then tuning can be done right on the box without the need for a laptop. Use this guide to tune your Nextup Controller.
